Martin Taylor, (a name that is now recognised on the house music scene in many destinations) was raised in the nightclub enviroment. Following in his fathers succesful footsteps as one of the biggest Northern Soul & Motown DJs of his time, Martin landed his first residency in a local nightclub in the mid 90's at just 13 years of age!
It was here that he naturally loved and showcased some early house music classics from the likes of Frankie Knuckles, Armand Van Helden, Kenny Dope & Brandon Block to name just a few. As his reputation as a minor capable of rocking the weekends in Wales grew, so did his absence from school as he would often leave early to go home and mix up a storm on his then legendary Technics 1210's.
In 2002 Martin left his full time job and took on bookings all over the North West of the UK, which included being picked up for over 11 residencies for commerical house kings Luminar Leisure. As the months went by he was spotted rocking parties in all four corners of the UK including Manchester, Liverpool, Blackpool (2 sets at the Syndicate Super club), Birmingham, Leeds, Southport, Walsall, Telford, Nantwich, Swansea, Burnley, Workington, Sunderland, Lancaster, Bristol, Wrexham, Bishop Auckland, Llandudno, Cardiff, Buckley, Chester, Bangor, Wolverhampton, Preston, Rochdale and many more! Within just a few more bookings he was asked to do the opening set at a Superclub in Puerto Banus called Dreamers for a Hed Kandi event. Such a good night was this Martin was invited back to the same venue 3 further times in the same summer.
Since his exposure on the international scene, Martin has picked up gigs in Bahrain, Detroit, Ibiza, Abu Dhabi, Malaga, Cyprus and more recently becoming one of the resident DJs for the Ministry of Sound Superclub in Singapore which also involved being the first international resident DJ for the official Hed Kandi bar in Singapore too.
Martin is often featured on www.pressureradio.com which showcases house musics biggest names including Andy Ward of Soul Central, Lil Louie Vega from Masters At Work & George Morel to name a few.
He describes his musical sets as energetic for the big rooms and touching for the smaller bars. You can expect some wicked riffs and tribal drums with sweet filters on the big systems with lots of 3-deck mixing aswell as the melody - the melody is important too, he explains, as this is what house music is made of. Anything old or nu disco sounding with a philadelphia backing beat or a vocal paradise track is equally as comfortable in my collection...
See you on the dancefloor....If there is room for you.
