  DJ Biography:

I was born into a family very much influenced by retro styles of music. Such artists as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Bob Marley and David Bowie gave me a good introduction to music as a whole. The history of music is something that fascinates me still to this day. I originally got into dance music around about 1994 through listening to dance compilations and music radio stations. I developed a love for technical music, through the mid to late part of the 90ís I really liked the sounds of Cream and Gatecrasher. Although I wasnít quite old enough to go to the clubs I still enjoyed the feelings and dreams it gave me to go on and be involved in the dance music industry.

I had my first real introduction to decks when one of my younger brothers bought a pair from a friend. I showed a more keen interest than him, and I remember them being very hard to master at first (belt drives). It was short lived as he sold them on.

I took on a new challenge at the turn of the century joining the armed forces. It was too much of life change from what I wanted, so I returned home. I was determined then to get involved in the music I love. I was first introduced to a nightclub called ìNocturnalsî in Leicester, the atmosphere was liked nothing else I had experienced. Some of my new friends were DJís and so therefore I knew I had to grab this opportunity.

I first acquired a pair of Soundlab direct drives in 2002 playing Trance and Hard House, Nukluez and Bonzai both being prominent labels that I was purchasing at the time. I enjoyed the next couple of years going to clubs such as Passion and Godskitchen whilst learning the art of ëmixingí. I was growing to learn how a DJ controlled the crowd with driving euphoric sets. My heroes at the time being Rank1, JFK, Cosmic Gate as well as the beautiful vocals of Jan Johnston. I knew that Trance was the main style that I wanted to play. I regularly practised with friends on various different setups ñ this gave me good experience as to how to deal with different equipment, giving me great confidence to build up a good collection of tunes.

I had my first opportunity to play a set in 2003 at Nocturnals in the chill out room playing trance, it was a nerve wracking experience. I enjoyed it a lot after the first couple of mixes went in. My friends said that I was a natural, which of course I bashfully played down saying I had a lot more work to do. After that occasion I was fortunate enough to play on many more occasions before sadly Nocturnals was closed down. The generation of promoters we had dealt with had retired. We still had a big community of followers who also were in the same boat as me. As up and coming DJís for whom it would be difficult to get noticed without clubs to play. Various different groups of friends started their own nights (thanks to the faith of bar and club owners). From 2004 to present day I have built up my experience playing for many different nights also varying in styles.

I have always loved searching for new and old tunes, visiting many towns for vinyl shops and more recently searching the World Wide Web. I have incorporated many different styles such as Breaks, Progressive, Electro and Techno into my sets. This kept an upbeat sound, with surprising moments of madness. I play with the passion that leaves me sweating and smiling afterwards. I would have to say Anjunabeats as a Trance label really kept me wanting more and more productions, Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren being high up in my favourite sounds. More recently Markus Schulz and his Coldharbour releases have really made me look at Trance in a different way from others before.

I currently have a residency at ëSmashedí in Leicester, playing Electro Trance, Progressive House and Breaks. I also like to play Hard Trance/House once in a while in their main room. I have been involved with a night every now and again called ëSavvyí playing Trance and Progressive to the mainstream customers of a busy town bar.

I am involved with a social network online ìPal talkî playing live sets of all styles with great success. I love playing to audiences but to have people scattered all across the world listening is a different environment all together. I will be taking part in a competition in 2008.

Moving forward, I am currently setting up my own website, producing a double CD demo and contacting clubs. Getting myself out there is the path to my success Ill keep you all posted.
