DJ Gary Chapman posses great passion & obsession for DJing. He is always trying new things and learning every time he plays. Although Garyís main style is House he is very diverse with his music, there are many styles of house and Gary suits the style to the type of venue he is playing at, The crowd and the time of the evening, he engages contact with the crowd and feeds off there reactions, he is always trying to create energy on the dance floor, adding beat mixing to his music achieving an uplifting performance getting the crowd to go crazy with the anticipation of great moments being born one after the other taking them closer to an emotional rush.
After originally starting out with vinyl, almost all the music Gary uses now is on cd as he finds it an incredible tool, with the advantages over vinyl such as looping, sampling & extending a tracks wherever he wants, pitching things up and down without losing the key with the advantage of a bigger sources on the market for getting those floorfilling tracks & being able to carry more music. Pioneer CDJ,s being his preferred deck although he has used many other cd, record decks & computer systems in his career.
It all started out when Gary was in his last year of primary school he started a small disco in his garden shed, named freddo club, he invited all of his sisters friends and gave them a free freddo chocolate bar if they came along. With a couple of old tape decks, a few tunes and a set of old house speakers all wired up, with Christmas fairy lights to create an atmosphere.
When Gary started secondary school, he always had his dream of being a dj, but even a set of speakers were going to be too expensive for him, On leaving school Gary got a job at Booker Cash & Carry with two advantages, one being able to buy the equipment he needed and two to meet some pub landlords to try and get his first gig. Gary first went out and bought most of the equipment that he needed and by this stage his music collection was growing large. Meanwhile Gary put on a couple of house parties for some friends. Finally Gary got asked & took the opportunity to DJ at the woolpack in Chelmsford and since then started being seen at many other pubs and private events.
In 2005 Gary met the Sunday night DJ from Chicago's in Chelmsford, where he was given his first ever set in front of a bigger audience in an clubbing environment, he was given a one hour set each week playing commercial house, since then Gary has been seen at many venues such as Que Pasa, Fat Sams, Club Fusion and many others.
Today DJ Gary Chapman has vast experience sharing his passion of music in many nightclubs & bars all over England and in June 2008 worked two nights abroad in Solou, Spain, opening his eyes even wider in the world of DJing, Gary even got offered to stay for the rest of the season but declined the offer due to work back in England. Since being back Gary has entered the Movida Corona World DJ Tournament which took place at Kulture, (Brighton) on the 20 June 08 which he came first place & has made it through to the Regional to compete for the final at Ministry of sound in London.
