Although I have always been seriously into the Electronic Dance Scene, my
passion originally lay with acting and theatre. After leaving school where I
spent all my time involved in music and acting, I spent three years studying
different aspects of theatre at College. First I took a diploma in
Performing Arts, and then went on to study Media studies and photography.
After a while, myself a group of friends of various ages founded a theatre
company in Essex Called Chain Reaction. This is where I got my first taste
of performing in front of a large audience. Needles to say I was addicted.
Over the next few years the theatre company went from strength to strength,
performing all ends of the theatrical spectrum from Shakespeare to Brecht!
After about six years of that I started getting tired of the theatre and
decided I no longer wanted to pursue a career there. Shattered and lost I
had no idea what I wanted to do from then on. I decided I had had enough of
everything I knew and got on a plane to Thailand.
After a few months of travelling around the country I eventually settled
down for several months in an island called Koh Pha-ngan! Ever heard of the
full moon party's? Highly recommend you check them out!!!! Working in a bar
called "The Lazy House" in Haad rin village, I decided one day to put on a
party. So I printed some flyers, got some Dj's etcetera and put on a
storming night! That night answered all my questions on what I should do
with my life! so when I got home I invested in some 1210's and the rest is
history.
I have experimented with various programs, formats and mediums, but
currently I like to play live with a laptop running Traktor Pro, an EKS XP5,
Pioneer DJM600 mixer and a Xone 1D for FX midi mapping. I like this set up
as it allows for variety in my playing and keeps the audience curious to
what I'm actually doing up there, which I think is crucial. As we have now
entered the Digital age of DJing, now more than ever we have to find more
and more things to push it to the next level!
