Leila Neve first developed a passion for house music while growing up in Burnley during the early 90's. Leila was instantly turned on by the new wave of vocal-heavy house music being hammered on commercial Radio and quickly developed a passion for uplifting house.
Leila's first introduction to club culture came with her first trip to Liverpool superclub Cream. She realised how intense her passion for music was while listening to resident Yousef during one of his infamous set's in the now legendary Annexe. The tough, jackin' house pumping out of the speaker-stacks hit Leila hard and it was soon after this that she decided to take to the decks herself. A couple of years intense home-practise followed, during which Leila developed her own unique mixing style as well as a unique vocal-heavy bass-driven sound - tough, jackin' house with a funky, uplifting vibe running throughout.
Leila's first gigs took place in Manchester and London, where she played alongside K-Klass and Dave Haslam, building her confidence substantially from day one and further developing her unique style. Around this time, Leila was put forward for the "Joy of decks" TV programme and was subsequently identified as "one to watch".
Leila received a big break in her career the following year. After handing a demo CD to Yousef earlier that year, she was chosen as a competition winner to play in the bar at Circus: one of the leading club night's in the UK, recently awarded the accolade of "Radio 1 house rules club of the year". Consequently, Leila found herself playing to one of the most notable house crowds in the country while house legend DJ Sneak was banging out the beats upstairs and Subliminal's Harry "Choo Choo" Romero was rocking the adjacent room. Leila's sound went down so well that she was booked to play the club again on boxing night - the most important night in Liverpool's clubbing calendar, where she banged it out peak-time on a bill that also featured Kenny Dope Gonzales (MAW), Layo & Bushwacka! and Nic Fanciulli.
Leila is currently resident and promoter at Highjacked: a Liverpool house night showcasing the finest underground talent from in and around the city. Here, Leila continues to develop her sound while rocking the dancefloor on a monthly basis. Leila is also bi-weekly resident at Babycream: Cream's dockside bar at which she regularly play's 6-hour Cream classics sets which have been subject to much critical acclaim from those who were there the first time round... back when Leila first heard house.
Leila's main musical inspirations include Yousef. DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Lottie and K-Klass - and Leila has already felt the honour of sharing a bill with over half of the above.
Whether she's warming up for a deep-house guest, rocking it peak time or indulging in a marathon of classics, Leila Neve never fails to get the dance-floor shakin'. With further high-profile bookings on the horizon, alongside a bagful of talent and an individual charisma, the future certainly looks bright for this young, talented star!
