The origins of Dj Loki start somewhere back in the summer of 1998, where in the backwaters of a high rise flat in a run down estate Loki developed a passion for house music. Having tried using a friends set of decks previously, Dj Loki obtained an original set of Technics 1200ís, and continued to improve on the mixing techniques, buying music with the little funds that were available wherever and whenever possible.
This trend continued and even in the face of sometimes fierce criticism from friends and family, Loki used this and became even more determined to succeed in producing quality music and mixes which would inspire and motivate others around him.
Various opportunities opened up around the Dunfermline area which were snapped up instantly in an effort to create a career in music which had previously been unimaginable with the circumstances at the time. A permanent position in the local but highly respectable night club Life, finally put Loki on the road to success.
This was a good starting point, but was not enough to curb the growing desire for more.
Whilst Loki had made good the surrounding area, moving to Glasgow opened up bigger opportunities, quickly gaining respect in a small but well placed event in what would be his new home town. Loki now tried different genres and got a taste for trance music which he enjoyed more than house music.
The next major event was by far a step up from the smaller night clubs, Carling Academy proved to be the focal point from which there was no looking back. The sets and performances were magical and the hard work and dedication to the music which sometimes seemed like a lame mule, suddenly became a realisation for anybody and everybody who had ever believed that something would come from being a Dj.
More and more offers starting pouring in and music which previously had to be obtained from scouring record stores, was now being mailed to Loki for feedback and his approval in the clubs circuit.
Changing his genre again to Hard style, which now there is no turning back he loves this style and will do for I long time I think. But this was no time to relax, the highlight of the clubbers year was the summer Colours festival. An offer had been made to Loki to play at the festival for his 4th year was not going to be taken lightly. The Back to the Future room was an opportunity that was too good to miss. The set was electric and pulled the crowd in quickly, it even afforded a small but energetic dance on stage sporting a kilt having just been to his sisters wedding an hour or so before.
With this determination and the will to succeed, we can be sure we will be seeing a lot more of Loki in the future, and quite rightly so, for if anybody put as much energy and passion into whatever they were doing as Loki puts into his work then we would all be winners.
Look out for him cause believe me this guy has a future in the industry, he is developing all the time and seems to get better by the day. I believe this is the year Loki will get put firmly on the map to success.
