Melophobe - Tom Jennings - is a new 21 year old DJ/producer born in Hemel Hempstead. He prides himself in ‘true’ DJing skills, not using any visual programs such as Serato to mix the tracks he plays, just using headphones to mix the music. He keeps up with the latest genres and the freshest tracks worldwide with huge variety and diversity.
Melophobe is also a keen music producer, studying production at The London School of Sound/SubBass Academy. He has been working alongside other local producers, producing mainly around Dubstep and the new genre that’s taking clubs by storm, Trap! This gives him the advantage of dropping exclusives, giving his sets a very strong edge and originality.
Melophobe’s sets are hard hitting, well structured, stamina testing and sub heavy! Proven to get a room going crazy from start to finish, his sets have hard impacts and are full of energy.
Melophobe’s first encounter with DJing began when he was 17 (5 years ago), where he started out playing vinyl in a makeshift studio and he hasn’t looked back since! As time went on, his mixes became tighter, more interesting and more diverse – playing at various underground functions.
His love for DJing grew stronger, as he went to see the inspirational DJ’s that are dominating 140bpm music, play at the biggest clubs that the UK has to offer, such as Skream, Benga, Caspa, Distance, Jakes, Lost, A-Trak, Baauer, Plastician, Requake, Megalodon.
2012 came around very fast and this is when Melophobe decided that music was going to be a huge part of his life and started working towards productions and also purchased his first set of Pioneer CD-J’s and home studio equipment. He would have loved to carry on playing vinyl but artists don’t tend to release enough tracks on vinyl to expand without transferring to CD-J’s. Now, his mixing is at a new level, with a hug variety of genres and tracks available at a click of a button, but as mentioned before, no visual programs are used to keep it as close to vinyl mixing as possible – true artistry!
While playing at various parties/functions around the Hertfordshire area Melophobe was spotted by a promoter from a local club ‘The Function Rooms’ and they approached him to try influence the genres he was playing into their club, since then Melophobe has played numerous sets and had fantastic reactions and feedback of clubbers and fellow DJ’s. Now it’s 2013 and Melophobe can’t wait to take his music to the next level and provide the public with some of the most memorable and crazy nights of their lives, with brand new productions and collaborations in the pipeline!
