Rick Lister has worked extensively over the past 10 years to create his
unique style of mixing and enhance his Djing career. A talented and unique
DJ, Rick always brings a fresh and energetic vibe to the sets he plays,
fusing electro, breaks and tech house to create a distinctive and brisk
sound.
It all began in 1998 at a house party after seeing a friend spin that Rick
knew he wanted to spend his life behind a pair of turntables. From that
moment he spent every spare minute playing records! Trance was the club
genre at the time but as time progressed Ricks taste fell towards Funky
House.
Rick's first break came when a friend introduced him to a DJ in his home
town of Doncaster who managed to get Rick sets in a few bars. Within 2 years
Rick had played extensively throughout his home town and was approached by a
promoter to join him on a venture a new club called 'Trilogy'.
Rick began as the warm up DJ playing classic house. After a long time of
blagging the promoters he began playing funky house. Rick felt that he had
more potential than playing warm-up sets and so decided to start up his own
club night after reading an interview with 'Armin Van Buuren'.
Rick started his club night 'Funkalicious' in a local bar. Over a few months
it grew and grew. It sparked interest with an online nightlife magazine.
Through this he met a fellow promoter and together they began several
successful club nights throughout Yorkshire.
'Viva LaDiva' began in August '06 and has had massive success ever since
with local acclaim as well as appraisal by Mixmag. As well as promoting,
Rick is the resident DJ and has played alongside the likes of Kate Lawler,
Jon Pearn, Alex P, Fedde Le Grande, Filth Rich, Micky Slim, Vicky Devine,
Miss Behavin', Sonny Wharton, Fran Cosgrave and many others.
As well as having played all over Yorkshire and the UK, recently in Summer
2007 Rick played alongside Vicky Devine at 'Charlys Angelz' @ Play2 in
Ibiza.
Ambitious and confident, Rick strives to deliver superb mixing and a great
experience to all that venture to hear him play. His versatility and
consistency is excellent and his ability to read and interact with the
crowd, sending them into a frenzy with his unique style is something seen to
be believed! and with his recent move into production, this is one DJ you
want to keep your eye on!!
