When I was 11 years old, my sister let me hear mix tapes from raves she had been to. At that time I had never heard anything like it, it was fantastic! Ultra Sonic, Ultimate Buzz, TTF etc, were my listening pleasure for the next year. I begged my Mum for months to buy me decks, as at 12 years old, I had no cash myself...so she eventually did, a set of Sound Lab DLP 1600s. A year later I somehow managed to blag a go behind the decks at an U-18s rave at the Town Hall infront of 500 people. Impressed with my ability, the organisers asked me to return.
As I got older, my love for Happy Hardcore eventually turned into a love for Trance, as there were so many good tunes around at that time...1998-2001. I spent countless hours in my bedroom behind the decks, and in record shops spending any cash I had on, what are now "trance classics". On 2002 I went on a "lads holiday" to Magaluf, BCM was my first Superclub experience, and I was hooked. I started going to Inside Out at the Arches Glasgow, were I first seen Mauro Picotto...what a night!! Eventually heading over to Ibiza to see what all the fuss was about, and have been a good few times since!
I eventually gained myself a resedency in Strada, playing funky vocal house. I was then offered to play in Mavrix weekly, which I did for about 9 months. More recently playing the Stonehouse Bar. I also run a monthly dance night called Upbeat, with fellow DJ/Promoter Kenny Gee. Due to my day job hours, I had been unable to travel at the weekends to DJ which is now no longer a problem. So its head down, onwards and upwards towards 2008...So hopefully some good times ahead.
My sets usually consist of a mix of different styles of house music, I try to keep it interesting, having some male / female vocals, nice melodys, driving bass (depending on the atmosphere) and some electro riffs. I find playing one style from start to end can get quite boring for the crowd. Its good to watch a DJ wondering where he / she is gonna take you next.
